Review by Ian BraidwoodThis collection is not as tightly themed as Sexual Chemistry: Sardonic Tales of the Genetic Revolution. Only Skinned Alive is mainly concerned with biotechnology, so the range of topics is much wider: The Oedipus Effect, Sortilege and Serendipity are concerned with the paranormal. Alternate Worlds and Taken for a Ride consider interaction between alternative universes. Given Brian's reservoir of uncollected short stories, it would be remarkable indeed if this collection wasn't a strong one. Personal favourites are: The Oedipus Effect, Complications, Wildland and, Sortilege and Serendipity.
