The Love & Romance Fiction Magazine Index (or Love Fiction Index in short) is a theoretical attempt to provide an index to love fiction magazines in the same style as the classic Science Fiction, Fantasy, & Weird Fiction Magazine Index compiled by Stephen T. Miller and William G. Contento, and the recent Crime, Mystery, & Detective Fiction Magazine Index compiled by Phil Stephensen-Payne, Stephen T. Miller and William G. Contento.
At the moment it is theoretical as, while some issues are being indexed as part of the FictionMags Index, these probably account for fewer than 10% of the issues published and, at the moment, there is no known source for the remaining issues (or anybody keen to index them). As ever, we would welcome any offers of assistance from anyone who has access to some of these magazines and is prepared to help out.
A list of all the magazines that would be covered by such an index can be found here. Note that this list explicitly excludes "true confession" magazines and women's story papers, even though each published a considerable amount of "love fiction".
