Title changed from Australian Monthly Magazine. Some interesting content including Clarke’s “Cannabis Indica,” which is a gothic story he wrote during a “controlled” experiment (i.e. a doctor was on hand to monitor things) with hashish; it was reprinted in his short stories as “A Haschish Trance”. Clarke died aged 35 leaving his wife to bring up 7 kids…but he did write His Natural Life, an Australian classic. Editor Marcus Clarke (1867-69), J.J. Shillinglaw (1869-70). |
