The Popular MagazineCountry: USTotal Issues: 612
First three issues purported to be a boys' magazine but rapidly
converted to a men's fiction pulp from Feb-1904. Success came with
Haggard's "Ayesha" (1905); also published C.J. Cutcliffe Hyne, Morgan
Robertson, H.G. Wells, Rafael Sabatini, Zane Grey; it carved a niche as
a middle-of-the-road family magazine. See also possible brief revival
under Hardboiled. Issues & Index Sources
