Detective Story Magazine was the first pulp magazine devoted to detective fiction, and was actually a continuation of the dime novel series Nick Carter Stories with its first issue continuing a serial begun in that magazine. One of those rare magazines rumoured to exist but never seen. It was probably published by Standard Magazines but Cook (via Bill Blackbeard) suggests it was a Clayton magazine from about 1930, and AHGTTP says it is an ashcan issue published by Better Publications (Thrilling).
