Sax Rohmer's Titles in French

Several of the books listed below have been, and continue to be, reprinted in new editions. These reprints are not listed unless they involve some significant change from the original edition, such as a new translation or publisher, a change in title, a new cover design, or a "collectors' edition" or omnibus volume.

This bibliography is based on information supplied originally by Robert-Pierre Castel of Carcassonne, France, who translated many Rohmer novels and stories for Éditions Alta in the late 1970s and for Union générale d'éditions in the 1980s.   An early version of the listing appeared in The Rohmer Review #12, September 1974.   Additional information has been supplied by Victor Berch, R. E. Briney, Philippe Gontier, Brian Hughes, Francis Lacassin, Marc Madouraud, and Rimmer Sterk.

This is a matched set of seven omnibus volumes containing all of the Fu Manchu stories except those included in La Colère de Fu-Manchu (see above). Some earlier translations are corrected and expanded, and several of the novels appear in French for the first time. The three short stories in which Nayland Smith appears without Fu Manchu are also included. The numbering of the titles given below is that which appears on the covers of the books. In three of the volumes a different internal numbering appears; these alternate numbers are given in parentheses.
