The Tales of East and West title was published in both Great Britain and the United States. The British collection contained ten stories while the U.S. edition contained "Thirteen little masterpieces of death and fear and terror." Five of the stories in the British edition (marked *) were omitted from the U.S. edition which added eight titles not found in the British edition: six (marked +) of the seven stories published in The Haunting of Low Fennel (London: C. Arthur Pearson. 1920) plus two stories (marked #) which had previously had only periodical publication.
