Born in Gorleston (then Suffolk), daughter of a journalist and managing editor of the Darlington and Stockton Times; from age 17 wrote column on birds for he father’s paper, then joined the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, becoming the Society’s secretary 1900-1935; wrote many pamphlets on birds and edited the Society’s journal; died in London.
