A saddle-stitched, digest-size magazine of standard crime-adventure
fare, Scientific Detective belied its name and had several fact articles
and an occasional quiz about its fiction, which appears to be primarily
reprint material. It's commencement is not known; the earliest issue
noted has been March 1945, labeled volume 5, number 1; the latest issue

The exact relationship between Scientific Detective Annual and Scientific Detective is currently unclear. Only two (undated) issues of the former have been located, one of which appears to have been published before the first known issue of Scientific Detective, and the second of which reprints some items from early issues of Scientific Detective.

A detective magazine with emphasis on the use of science to solve crimes. About half the stories contain sufficiently exaggerated science to be classed as SF. Title was changed to Amazing Detective Tales after the sixth issue. The December 1930 Author & Journalist announced that the title had been purchased by Fiction Publishers, run by Wallace Bamber and the magazine was relaunched as Amazing Detective Stories in February 1931, though only five more issues are known, folding in August 1931.
