Scientific Detective

Country: US
Total Issues: 33?

A saddle-stitched, digest-size magazine of standard crime-adventure fare, Scientific Detective belied its name and had several fact articles and an occasional quiz about its fiction, which appears to be primarily reprint material. It's commencement is not known; the earliest issue noted has been March 1945, labeled volume 5, number 1; the latest issue inspected was dated May 1948.

In the Nov-1947 issue, E. Robert Rubin is listed as owner and publisher, Max Herzberg is editor and George Sturm is managing editor. In Nov-1946, Rubin was owner and publisher but Sturm was editor and Herzberg was managing editor.

The exact relationship between Scientific Detective Annual and Scientific Detective is currently unclear. A detective magazine with emphasis on the use of science to solve crimes. About half the stories contain sufficiently exaggerated science to be classed as SF. Title was changed to Amazing Detective Tales after the sixth issue.
