Pep Tec:

The issues seen are partial reprints of US saucy pulps such as Vice Squad Detective and Spicy Detective Stories, so it is quite likely that this is actually a UK magazine (as the only known issues are in the UK) and that the listed publisher and price are a smokescreen.

The Phantom Detective    (about)

The Phantom Detective was Standard Magazine’s response to the launch of The Shadow Magazine by Street & Smith. Although it ran for far fewer issues (170 instead of 325) its less frequent schedule meant it held the record for the longest-running single-character pulp, lasting for over 20 years.
Publishers: Phantom Detective, Inc.; 570 Seventh Avenue, New York, NY; and later at 22 West 48th Street, New York, NY, Feb 1933 – Jun 1937; Standard Magazines, Inc.; 22 West 48th Street, New York, NY; and later at 10 East 40th Street, New York, NY, Jul 1937 – Dec 1937; Better Publications of Canada, Ltd.; 36 Toronto Street, Toronto, Ontario, Jan 1938 – Dec 1949; Standard Magazines, Inc.; 10 East 40th Street, New York, NY, Jan 1950 – Jun 1953.
