There appear to be two publishers battling over this name in 1925-1926. The title using script lettering changed to Original Artists and Models, while the block lettering added "Trademark Registered" and won. Some auctions attruibute both to Ramer Reviews Inc. The Free-lance Writer's Handbook (1926) (p326) lists Original Artists and Models Magazine at 109 W. 49th St. NY; Merle W. Hersey, editor; Wayne Sabbath, ... while p261 lists Art and Beauty; Ramer Reviews, 104 W 42d St, NY; J.B. Smalley, editor.
Here is a 1925 Time Magazine article titled Pornographia about how local D.A.s in Omaha and Chicago are banning Artists and Models, La Vie Parisienne, Hot Dog, Capt. Billy's Whiz Bang, Cis Weekly " booklets which, with a clutter of others, including Paris Nights, So This Is Paris, Ziffles, True Confessions... has long fouled the public newsstands and encumbered the mails." |
