Information taken from bound Volume 10. Due to the outbreak of the First World War, this is a very unusual issue. A special supplement about the war was printed and prefixed to the front of the normal issue (which has already gone to press). Because of this the issue starts at page 665, even though that overlaps with the pagination of the previous issue. Possibly connected to this is the fact that the last 64 pages in the issue have no page numbers (although they have been labelled below as if they were numbered 783-816 as normal - this MIGHT mean that these pages were not actually issued as part of the magazine and only appear in the bound volume (although this is pure supposition at the moment). As a further twist, the magazine contains a full-page announcement saying that the planned merger of the magazine with Pall Mall Magazine has been called off. However, the merger did take place with effect from the next issue so presumably the outbreak of war was also responsible for that reversal. |
Title changed after merger of Nash’s Magazine and Pall Mall Magazine. |
