Great Detective (about)
Great Detective was originally launched in 1933 with the self-imposed task of publishing “the best detective-mystery fiction available”, much of it with a distinctly English flavour. After nine issues or so there was a hiatus following which the magazine resurfaced briefly featuring entirely original fiction, but survived for only three issues in this guise.

Guilty Detective Story Magazine (about)
Guilty Detective Story Magazine and Trapped Detective Story Magazine were companion magazines launched by Feature Publications in June/July 1956. Both determined to show that the spirit of the 1940s detective pulp magazines was still alive and well in the 1950s, albeit in a digest format. Guilty Detective Story Magazine ran for 35 issues and Trapped Detective Story Magazine for 34 issues, initially alternating on a bi-monthly schedule.

Hardboiled (1980s): (about)
The history and naming of these small press “hardboiled detective” magazines can seem a trifle confusing. They started life as two separate magazines—Hardboiled from HB Enterprises in 1985 and Detective Story Magazine from Gryphon Publications in 1988. In 1990 they were merged under the title Hardboiled Detective, which was published by Gryphon Publications and continuing the numbering of Detective Story Magazine. This name was then shortened in 1992 to Hardboiled under which it continued until 2014.

Hollywood Detective: (about)
Dan Turner, Hollywood Detective started off as “pure” Dan Turner, printing half-a-dozen Dan Turner stories in each issue, most reprinted from Spicy Detective (often with changed titles and a degree of rewriting). With the September 1943 issue the title changed to Hollywood Detective and the magazine started featuring other writers as well, although still retaining a couple of Dan Turner stories (and a Dan Turner comic strip) in each issue.
