by Earl Kemp (Editor), Luis Ortiz (Editor)
Paperback: 240 pages
ISBN-10: 1933065141      ISBN-13: 978-1933065144

Exploring the subcultures of mid-20th-century America, this encyclopedia comprehensively documents the huge quantity of cult magazines that thrived beneath the mainstream. Chronicling the period between 1925 and 1990, prior to the rise of the Internet age, the book reveals how thousands of these specialized magazines were produced, gratifying the secret life of every fad, taste, obsession, and hush-hush desire. Nothing was beyond the scope of the imaginative publishers and eccentric editors, the guide shows, as it goes behind the scenes of titles such as Amazing Stories, Doctor Death, Gee-Whiz, Jaybird, Phantom Detective, and True Thrills. Featuring full-color reproductions of hundreds of distinctive cult cover images, this reference's backgrounds, histories, and essays offer a complete picture of a bygone era.

CULT OF THE CORPSES by Maxwell Hawkins

Introduction by John Locke

Two weird detective novelettes from Detective-Dragnet Magazine. "Cult of the Corpses" (January 1931) puts a detective on the trail of a murderous voodoo cult operating out of a Manhattan nightclub. "Dealers in Death" (July 1931) pits a detective against the machinations of the insidious Mr. Letherius, a contract killer who specializes in bizarre and undetectable forms of murder.

These are early (and entertaining) examples of the early '30s trend toward weird detective stories. Included is a detailed discussion of the trend; and a profile of author Maxwell Hawkins.

Stories complete with original illustrations.

The Shadow - Movie Update!
IGN Movies caught up with producer Michael E. Uslan at the premiere of The Spirit where Uslan gave IGN Movies the low down on what's happening with the feature film return of The Shadow.

Uslan informed IGN Movies that his next project will likely be the reinvention of Walter B. Gibson's pulp hero The Shadow, followed by director Peter Segal's big screen version of DC Comics' Captain Marvel. IGN Movies broke the news about Sam Raimi's involvement with The Shadow back in December 2006.

Raimi and Josh Donen's Buckaroo Entertainment will produce The Shadow along with Uslan's Comic Book Movies, Llc/Branded Entertainment banner. Siavash Farahani penned the screenplay. The Shadow was last brought to the screen in 1994 by director Russell Mulcahy with Alec Baldwin in the title role. Uslan advised
IGN Movies that he has a specific actor in mind to play Lamont Cranston, a.k.a. The Shadow. Although he would not tell us who that actor is, he did say it was a rather unconventional choice that nevertheless excited executives when he told them.

ADVENTURE HOUSE - Corrected update!
This title is only available direct from Adventure House!
THE THRILL BOOK Volume 1 (of 3, possibly 4)
The first seven issues from 1919 (all edited by Harold Hersey) of this classic Street & Smith pulp magazine that ran for a total of sixteen twice-monthly issues.
$70 (hardbound)
Hardbound Book, 8.5x11, 402 pages
First 7 Issues: March 1, 1919 - June 1, 1919

An Adventure House exclusive!
THE THRILL BOOK has always had mythical status among pulp and science fiction fans.  Introduced during the early days of pulp magazines, THE THRILL BOOK's first seven issues were published using the same dimensions and page counts as the dying genre of magazines known as "Dime Novels."  Saddle stitched, with only 48 pages, THE THRILL BOOK broke the mold for "Dime Novels."  Its stories had nothing in commong with any other "Dime Novel", even its price was twice the norm for the so-called "Dime Novels" which actually cost only a nickel.

Yet, its impact on "Fantastic" fiction to come isn't denied.  Published on a bi-monthly basis, THE THRILL BOOK lasted a scant sixteen issues, and continues to stif the imagination of collectors and readers alike.

Adventure House brings you in multiple volumes, the entire THRILL BOOK saga.  Complete with all illustrations, filler and poetry, THE THRILL BOOK COMPLETE is well...just that...complete for the first time since its cancellation in 1919!

BOOKS ARE BEING PRINTED AND BOUND NOW.
This title is only available direct from Adventure House!
You can now place your pre-order on the Adventure House website.
The book will begin shipping in January.

THE SHADOW DOUBLE NOVEL VOLUME 9: "FORESHADOWING THE BATMAN" VARIANT SPECIAL
The book that rewrote the history of Batman is reissued in the first Shadow variant edition‹as "The Knight of Darkness" returns in two historic novels that gave birth to "The Dark Knight." First, a powerful new underworld kingpin crosses swords with The Shadow in "Lingo," one of Walter Gibson's all-time masterpieces which inspired the 'Batarang.' In "Partners of Peril" by Theodore Tinsley, Lamont Cranston investigates chemical syndicate murders in the crime thriller that was adapted by Bill Finger and Bob Kane as Batman's debut adventure in Detective Comics #27. This extra-length volume also reprints Tinsley's "The Grim Joker," a 1936 tale introducing a clown-faced crime boss called 'The Joker'. PLUS: Will Murray documents the "Shadowy" origins of The Batman, and Anthony Tollin chronicles how "Partners in Peril" was adapted as the first Batman story. This special variant edition leads off with the classic George Rozen cover painting that many consider the definitive portrait of The Shadow, and also reprints all the original interior illustrations by Tom Lovell including a dynamite two-page spread dropped from the original Street & Smith pulp.  (Sanctum Press)   978-1-934943-19-9   1-934943-19-3

Beneath Ceaseless Skies #6 - Now available online!
The fourth issue of Beneath Ceaseless Skies is now available and features:

"Dunasby, Fire and Ice," by Rebecca Lyn Shelley
Deathfire shot an arrow through the man’s back. Then he drew his sword. The woman and children would be easy enough to kill, but he wanted to take care of the baby first. “Don’t worry,” he said, rubbing a gentle hand across the woman's sweat-soaked brow. “I’ll make it painless for all of you.”

"The Dragon's Child," by J. Kathleen Cheney
The wizard raised a hand, his long, pointed nails painted with blue lacquer. With one finger, he drew a slashing arc through the air. Pain seared like fire along Kseniya’s cheek, a line cutting across one of the old scars. She clenched her jaw to keep from crying out. She remembered that pain all too well.

"The Last Devil," by Sarah L. Edwards
His body lengthened, his worn leather footings bursting as his legs, now fused, spiraled behind, scaled and glistening black. Even when the foul thing had fully turned, its hands still grasped at the air while the twisted mouth shrieked fearful things. It would have seemed only a beast, powerful and deadly, were it not for those hands and eyes, so like a man’s but not, a living sacrilege.

CONAN THE CIMMERIAN #9 - Coming in March!
Written by Timothy Truman, penciled by Tomas Giorello, colored by Jose Villarrubia, cover by Joseph Michael Linsner.

Nahtok, a powerful wizard with the desert tribes of Shem under his command, now looks to expand his motley empire northward into the politically unstable Koth -- where Koth's leaders are more likely to kill each other on the battlefield than join together to face a common foe. The only thing standing in Nahtok's way is the small border kingdom of Khoraja and their battered military forces, now led by the inexperienced Princess Yasmela. Amalric's mercenaries -- with Conan still riding among their numbers -- are charged with reinforcing Yasmela's depleted army, as the conquering Nahtok draws near and Yasmela is haunted by both evil threats and holy visions. Tim Truman, Tomás Giorello, and José Villarrubia continue their adaptation of Robert E. Howard's "Black Colossus," a chilling Robert E. Howard tale that finds Conan at a strange crossroads in his mercenary career and on the path to the largest-scale battle of his life, as a clash between Nahtok and Amalric's men appears inevitable!

40 pages, $2.99, in stores on March 18.

Doc Savage - Movie Update!
IGN Movies caught up with producer Michael E. Uslan at Wednesday's premiere of The Spirit where he gave IGN Movies the low down on what's happening with the long-gestating feature film return of pulp hero Doc Savage.

Uslan told
IGN Movies that while The Shadow and Captain Marvel are likely to be his next two projects, he's also actively developing Doc Savage. No screenwriter or director has been hired yet, but Uslan says that several big names have expressed interest in Doc. The producer said his project has no ties to the version that was being developed years ago with director Frank Darabont and star Arnold Schwarzenegger and that neither of them are involved with his incarnation. He stressed that his will be a fresh start.

Uslan added that no star is attached right now but hinted that the title role would likely not be played by an unknown. When asked about Dwayne Johnson, who has been rumored for the role in the past, Uslan simply replied that he's going to play the villainous "Black Adam" in Captain Marvel and didn't really give the impression that The Rock was also going to play the Man of Bronze, but he didn't outright deny it either.

Uslan, who also produced Constantine and executive produced all of the Batman films, said the film would follow Doc's departure from his Arctic base on his first adventure to the United States. He stressed that the film would focus on Doc's story and developing his character, and downplayed the possibility that his team of companions -- the Fabulous Five -- would play a large part in the film, suggesting that they could be better served in sequels.

Flesk Publications: Al Williamson's Flash Gordon: A Lifelong Vision of the Heroic
- Coming in early 2009!

Al Williamson’s Flash Gordon: A Lifelong Vision of the Heroic, collects all the major works of the artist featuring the character. At 256 pages, it encompasses Williamson’s three stints of depicting Flash in comic book format: the legendary King Comics stories from the 1960s, the 1980 adaptation of the Universal Flash Gordon motion picture, and the Marvel Comics miniseries of 1994.

In addition to these classics of sequential storytelling, Al Williamson’s Flash Gordon features Williamson’s Flash drawings done for commercial illustration and prints, his assists on the Flash Gordon comic strip, a variety of Flash images contributed to amateur publications, and a selection of largely unpublished images spanning his interest in the character from childhood to the conclusion of his career. With an introduction by Sergio Aragones, text by Mark Schultz, and images reproduced directly from the artist’s original drawings, this long-overdue collection of evocative artwork documents the lifelong impact that Flash Gordon had on Williamson and the particular impact that Williamson had on Flash Gordon.

Paizo Publishing - Coming in March!
The Sword of Rhiannon by Leigh Brackett, with an introduction by Nicola Griffith

Greed pulls archaeologist Matt Carse into the forgotten tomb of the Martian god Rhiannon and plunges the unlikely hero into the Red Planet’s fantastic past, when vast oceans covered the land and the legendary Sea-Kings rule from terraced palaces of decadence and delight.

This pivotal novel in the sword and planet fantasy subgenre is one of the greatest adventure tales from one of the most important authors in the history of science fiction! Talented enough to co-write The Big Sleep film with William Faulkner and imaginative enough to pen the original screenplay for The Empire Strikes Back, Leigh Brackett is a giant in the science-fiction field, and The Sword of Rhiannon is one of her most popular adventure tales. An introduction by popular modern writer Nicola Griffith (Ammonite, Slow River) puts the book into a modern context for readers as yet unfamiliar with Brackett’s rare genius.

The Phantom - Lee Falk's immortal character returns to film!
Australia’s Sherlock Symington Productions has won the rights to make a follow-up to 1996’s The Phantom which starred Billy Zane as the titular character. The new film will reportedly be called The Phantom Legacy, and will explore the father/son dynamic between the hero and his father, and “what it means to be the Phantom,” said screenwriter Tom Boyle. The concept of destiny and the father/son relationship is key to the hero created by Lee Falk, as the mantle of The Phantom passes from father to son. Kit Walker, the current Phantom is the 21st such son to wear the purple skintight costume.  The new film will be set in the present day, and is expected to cost $87 million to produce. The Phantom Legacy will be shot entirely in Australia, and producers of the film are already in talks with several “top talent” actors, both American and Australian.

Robert E. Howard Foundation: The Collected Poetry of Robert E. Howard
Preorders now being accepted!
The book is now at the printers and it should be available in late January.
More than 100 of the 150 piece limited run have been pre-sold to date and the book MAY sell out before it ships! Order soon if you are at all interested!

The Robert E. Howard Foundation is pleased to present The Collected Poetry of Robert E. Howard. This volume collects all of Howard’s known verse (more than 700 poems), excluding only certain draft and/or variant versions of his poems which are not significantly different from published versions. It also includes the prose poems published in Etchings in Ivory, title and first line indexes, and “Barbarian Bard: The Poetry of Robert E. Howard” by Steve Eng.

The book will contain several “firsts,” thanks to Paul Herman’s recent discovery of a cache of transcriptions at Ohio State University (of all places). These papers probably date back to the early 1960s and reveal all sorts of differences between these and the latter-published poems. “Long Ago,” for example, was missing a line in its first publication; the previously published version of “Victory” is very different from the one at OSU; and the OSU stash revealed a completely different version of “The Cats of Anubis” from the one published in Night Images. They’re so different, in fact, that both versions are included in Collected Poetry. And there’s lots of other little nuggets as well.

This massive volume, over 800 pages, will be printed in hardback with dust jacket, in a limited quantity of 150 individually numbered copies. Cover design is by Jim Keegan. The book is expected to ship early in 2009.

Price: For members of the

STARTLING STORIES Volume 2 Number 1- Now available!
The name conjures up images and magazines of the past, our "bloody pulp" era in American literature, and when Science Fiction and Fantasy were a big part of our Popular Culture. Editor & Graphic Designer William Carney has given us the latest incarnation of this classic pulp magazine, slam-bang full of stories and art, both old and new! This first issue (Vol.2, #1) features: "The Girl in the Golden Atom" by Ray Cummings, with artwork by Robert Sankner, "To Bite The Worm" by S. Clayton Rhodes, "The Cursed Stele" by Cari Reese, "The Traveler: Wolves of Mars" by Wayne Skiver... as well as a fine article on "Margarate Brundage: Queen of Weird Tales" by K. G. McAbee, and even a new Sci-Fi comic strip "Saucy Blane" by pulp art legend Ron Wilber! We round out this issue with a small Art Portfolio featuring Ver Curtiss, the cover artist for this issue. This magazine also captures the look and feel of the "original" pulp, (including original pulp advertisements) and we hope that you enjoy this new offering of  scintillating science fiction, space adventure, and weird dark menace! Look for it on a Quarterly basis, exclusively from Wild Cat Books... Where Pulp Lives!

ADVENTURE HOUSE - At the printer & arriving in January!

THE THRILL BOOK Volume 1 (of 2)
The first seven issues from 1919 (all edited by Harold Hersey) of this classic Street & Smith pulp magazine that ran for a total of sixteen twice-monthly issues.

Volume 2 will be available at a later date.

Age of Aces - Now available!
The Three Mosquitoes: "The Magic Inferno"
This is the second collection of stories featuring
The Three Mosquitoes by Ralph Oppenheim.

Once more, their familiar battle cry rings out: ”Let’s Go!”
And the three khaki Spads take to the air, flying intoterror skies each sporting the famous Mosquito insignia. In the cockpits sat the three warriors who were known wherever men flew as the greatest and most hell raising trio of aces ever to blaze their way through overwhelming odds. Always in front was Kirby, their impetuous young leader. Flanking him on either side were mild-eyed and corpulent Shorty Carn, and lanky Travis, the eldest and wisest Mosquito.

From the pages of Popular Publications’ air war pulp magazines, author Ralph Oppenheim—who had never been in an airplane—brings us four more unforgettable adventures of this reckless and inseparable trio from 1932 and 1933: The Magic Inferno, The TNT Patrol, The Suicide Patrol, and The Flying Stingaree.

Airship 27: CAPTAIN HAZZARD - CAVEMEN IN NEW YORK - Printing mistake!
A major printing mistake has been discovered in Captain Hazzard # 4 - The Cavemen of New York.  Somehow, through some totally weird voodoo glitch in the Airship 27 computer programs, the text for page 185 was misplaced!

The text on page 185 should be inserted between the text on page 181 and 182.
Page 184 continues on page 186.

Airship 27 Productions has recruited John Bruening to be their Proof-Reader which will hopefully prevent a recurrence of this problem.  After correcting the page order, Cornerstone Books Publisher Michael Poll asked writer Andrew Salmon and Rob Davis to proof the book yet again one final time which they did over the past weekend. There now is a clean copy that is replacing the file at the Lulu store. So anyone ordering a copy after today will have a good copy. Likewise these files will be transfered with the Cornerstone printers as well.  Unfortunately Airship 27 cannot change the few copies remaining in outlet inventories ala Amazon and Barnes & Noble on-line.  Hopefully those will be depleted soon.  The bottom line is that the on-line store (Lulu.com, Cornerstone) copies are fixed and fans should go there to procure the book.

In the meantime Airship 27 wishes to make this up for all of you who have already bought this book.  Simply write to Airship 27 at  airship27@comcast.net and tell them the last word in the novel to confirm you do own the book.  Airship 27 will digitally send you (free of charge) a copy of the clean pdf files so that you can at least have a clean version in digital format.

Everyone involved with Airship 27 Productions and Cornerstone Book Publishers are truly sorry for this snafu.  It was never their intention to produce anything but the highest quality books.

Airship 27:SECRET AGENT X- Volume III - Now available!
Airship 27 Productions and Cornerstone Book Publishers are pleased to announce the publication of the third volume in their anthology series of brand new Secret Agent X adventures.  Pulpdom’s greatest super-spy returns in four never before published tales of breath-taking thrills and daring do. In this collection, The Man of a Thousand Faces finds himself pitted against a new Nazi super rifle that can kill from miles away; a mythological monster from ancient history, a mysterious horror hidden in the jungles of Cambodia and a new technological marvel capable of enslaving America.

These new exploits are provided by writers John Bear Ross, Frank Schildiner, Jarrod Courtemanche and Andrew Salmon.  “There’s something about this character that inspires all our writers,” said Art Director Rob Davis upon completing the interior illustrations for this new book.  “Every one of these is an original gem pulp fans are going to eat up.”

The series was begun two years ago and with SECRET AGENT X – Vol III, continues the fun begun in the first two volumes.   “This is a pulp hero our readers just can’t get enough,” declared Airship 27 Editor, Ron Fortier.  “And we’re only too happy to give them more.”   Airship 27 Prod. began by Fortier especially to produce new stories of classic pulp heroes from the 1930s.  In 2007,
Airship 27 Productions joined forces with Michael Poll and Cornerstone Book Publishers of New Orleans.  This is their tenth pulp release since their partnership was launched.

This new volume contains:
The Wrath of the Valkyrie
The Mask of Medusa
Ruins of Lost Souls
The Watchmen of Doom

Coming this month!

Altus Press - Help needed!
From Altus Press publisher Matt Moring:
My name is Matt Moring and I'm wrapping up work on a collection of Doc Savage articles by Will Murray. The book should be out in a few months, but I wanted to look into the possibility of including an all-new interview with Will regarding all things Doc.

Will's done several interviews in the past, so it's difficult for me to think of anything which hasn't already been asked. So that's where you all come in. Maybe you've got a Doc/Lester Dent/Will question which you'd like to see answered... now's the chance to do so! So if you can assist with this, please send your question(s) along to me at m.moring@comcast.net
, and if we get enough questions to make a good-length interview, your question will appear in print.

This book should get wide circulation, so please do participate. I want to make this a must-own for Doc fans everywhere.

Beneath Ceaseless Skies #5 - Now available online!
The fourth issue of Beneath Ceaseless Skies is now available and features:

"The God-Death of Halla," by Tina Connolly
The man's head swung wildly, his fingers grasping towards the straining netted bundle. The touch of the God on an unholy man was not pretty. Halla could sense it, crackling the air from the Mouth to the man. It was a compulsion that filled him with blood lust, blanketed his mind with one urge: kill the dove.

"Precious Meat ," by Catherine S. Perdue
I lifted my muzzle and sniffed. The wood was different today. Fine dust still hung in the air and sparkled in sunlit shafts. Such a thing this sparkling was. I gazed at it in wonder. Had the light ever been just so before? Was this a new thing?

--And Their Memory Was a Bitter Tree: Queen of the Black Coast and Others
by Robert E Howard (Author), Arnie Fenner (Foreword), H. P. Lovecraft (Afterword)

As one of the three most important American pulp fantasy authors of the 1930s (with Lovecraft and Clark Ashton Smith), Robert E. Howard captivated readers with his indomitable, battle-scarred barbarian hero Conan. Though Howard's life ended prematurely in 1936 at the age of 30, Conan lives on as one of the genre's most enduring icons.

This beautifully designed collection contains nine essential Conan stories along with a full-length Conan novel. Also included is The Hyborean Age, Howard's fascinating history of the raw, blood-drenched world Conan inhabited, an alternative Earth that preceded Tolkien's Middle Earth. And Their Memory Was a Bitter Tree features a color map of this realm and an interior painting by cult artist Brom, along with a series of Frank Frazetta's seminal Conan paintings, appearing for the first time with the stories for which they were created.

The contents include:
"Whispers of Immortality" by Arnie Fenner (Introduction)

"Shadows in the Moonlight"
"A Witch Shall Be Born"

"Red Nails"

Forrest J. Ackerman - R.I.P.
Forrest J. Ackerman, the sometime actor, literary agent, magazine editor and full-time bon vivant who discovered author Ray Bradbury and was widely credited with coining the term "sci-fi," has died, the Associated Press reported. He was 92. Ackerman died Dec. 4 of heart failure at his Los Angeles home, Kevin Burns, head of Prometheus Entertainment and a trustee of Ackerman's estate, told the AP.

Ackerman was legendary in science fiction circles as the founding editor of the pulp magazine Famous Monsters of Filmland. He was also the owner of a huge private collection of science fiction movie and literary memorabilia that for years filled every nook and cranny of a hillside mansion overlooking Los Angeles, nicknamed the "Ackermansion."

Every Saturday morning that he was home, Ackerman would open up the house to anyone who wanted to view his treasures; everyone knew him as "Forry." He sold some pieces and gave away others when he moved to a smaller house in 2002, but he continued to let people visit him every Saturday for as long as his health permitted.

Haffner Press
Coming in February!

HAFFNER PRESS IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE . . .
THE COLLECTED EDMOND HAMILTON  - AUTHORIZED EDITION

Edmond Moore Hamilton (1904-1977) was one of the early pioneers of American science fiction. For fifty years his stories established and popularized many of the tropes in modern science fiction. Later this year, Haffner Press will launch the first salvo in a program authorized by the Estate of Edmond Hamilton to collect all the prose work of this neglected master. All of his science fiction, all the fantasy, all the mysteries--all the stories and novels (including the entire run of the "Captain Future" adventures) will be assembled in this multi-volume set.

• The Metal Giants and Others: The Collected Edmond Hamilton, Volume One
• The Star Stealers: The Complete Tales of the Interstellar Patrol, The Collected Edmond Hamilton, Volume Two
• The Collected Captain Future, Volume One: Captain Future and the Space Emperor

As with all Haffner Press titles, quality is of prime importance.  Each volume of THE COLLECTED EDMOND HAMILTON will be printed on acid-free archival-quality paper with smythe-sewn hardcover bindings using full-cloth covered boards. Full-color dust jackets will reproduce digitally restored covers from the original pulp magazines.

We are currently lining up a stellar group of writers, editors, historians, and friends of Hamilton to provide insightful introductions for each volume.
Keep Watching the Skies and check the Haffner Press website frequently for updates on this project. We have a lot of neat tie-ins to this particular program, and you won't want to miss at thing.

Hard Case Crime - Coming in December and beyond!
December 2008
FIFTY-TO-ONE by Charles Ardai, Cover art by Glen Orbik
CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF HARD CASE CRIME!

Okay, not really. But what if, instead of having been founded 50 books ago, Hard Case Crime had been founded 50 years ago, by a rascal out to make a quick buck off the popularity of pulp fiction? Such a fellow might make a few enemies—especially after publishing a supposed non-fiction account of a heist at a Mob-run nightclub, actually penned by an 18-year-old showgirl. With both the cops and the crooks after them, our heroes are about to learn that reading and writing pulp novels is a lot more fun than living
them...

January 2009
KILLING CASTRO by Lawrence Block, Cover art by Sharif Tarabay

There were five of them, each prepared to kill, each with his own reasons for accepting what might well be a suicide mission. The pay? $20,000 apiece. The mission? Find a way into Cuba and kill Castro.

This breathtaking thriller, originally published the year before the Cuban Missile Crisis under a pen name Lawrence Block never used before or since, is the rarest of Block’s books—and still a work of chilling relevance all these years later, with Castro and Cuba once again commanding headlines.

February 2009
THE DEAD MAN'S BROTHER by Roger Zelazny, Cover art by Chuck Pyle
THE FIRST NEW ZELAZNY NOVEL IN 15 YEARS!

Now the CIA is offering to clear up the murder charge, but only in return for a favor: They want Ovid to fly to Vatican City and trace the trail of a renegade priest who has gone missing with millions in church funds. What’s the connection? The priest’s lover, a woman Ovid knew in his smuggling days...

THE CUTIE by Donald E. Westlake, Cover art by Ken Laager
Mavis St. Paul had been a rich man’s mistress. Now she was a corpse. And every cop in New York City was hunting for the two-bit punk accused of putting a knife in her.

But the punk was innocent. He’d been set up to take the fall by some cutie who was too clever by half. My job? Find that cutie—before the cutie found me.

THE SECOND DELUGE by Garrett P. Serviss
This is a story of intense interest from beginning to end--it deals with the passing of the earth through a water nebula. Cosmo Versal, scientist, became convinced that the earth would be covered with water to a depth of six miles. In other words, the globe would be covered to a depth as great if not greater than occurred in the Biblical deluge. He built an ark and picked his company for the proposed long voyage, taking about 500 of both sexes, and also animals. With the final floating of the ark amidst a torrential flood and what happened to the majority of the people on Earth, will be answered by reading the book.

Trade Paperback - $14.95
